WHY LAURIN & KLEMENT?
Václav Laurin and Václav Klement were the founders of a brand bearing their names. Their business, set up in 1895, originally made bicycles. Before long, they had moved on to their first motorcycle, and in 1905 their first passenger car saw the light of day. In 1925, the Laurin & Klement carmaker merged with the ŠKODA engineering group and took its name. The LAURIN & KLEMENT brand has been preserved, however, to denote the most luxurious trim level for selected ŠKODA models (the L&K line-up includes the KODIAQ, SUPERB and OCTAVIA) and as a tribute to the company founders and their motto: “Only our best is good enough for our customers.”
